Bandipora: District Police Bandipora, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, organized an awareness campaign on three new criminal laws at Government Degree College (GDC) Hajin on Friday.

The program began with a welcome address and introduction by Advocate Irshad Ahmad.

In his lecture, the resource person explained that India has recently implemented three new criminal laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), which have replaced the old colonial-era codes, the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively. He also highlighted key points about these new laws and their significance.

Probationary DySP Hajin, Vasu Agarwal, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stated that the new criminal laws are justice-oriented and victim-centric. He explained that the revised laws prioritize justice over punishment, ensuring swift trials and timely justice for victims. Special attention has been given to crimes against women and children, with stricter provisions and an improved legal mechanism for their protection.

The programme was attended by SI Shoib Mohammad, Assistant Professors Falak Feroz, Faroz Ahmad, Javid Ahmad, Nahida Jan, and other senior faculty members of the college, along with students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Professor Falak Faroz, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers and participants in making the awareness campaign successful.
