Scheduled Power Shutdown Announced in Several Areas for Maintenance Work

Srinagar, March 5: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in multiple areas across the Kashmir region to facilitate essential maintenance and augmentation work on power infrastructure.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, the shutdown of the 33KV Nehalpora-Markundal line will be observed to upgrade the existing 0.1 ACSR to 0.2 ACSR. As a result, Receiving Stations at Markundal, Naidkhai, Shahgund, and Aglar will remain off, affecting power supply to Naidkhai, Markundal, Sumbal, Ankhul, Gundboon, and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM on March 8 and March 10.

Similarly, for the installation of newly procured panels and oil topping of power transformers, the 33KV Cherpora-Achabal line will remain under shutdown, impacting Receiving Stations at Cherpora, Uttersoo, Deethu, and Chittergul. Power supply to Cherpora, Uttersoo, Deethu, Chittergul, and nearby areas will be affected from 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM on March 10.

Additionally, augmentation work, including the charging of a 1×6.3 MVA Power Transformer, will require the shutdown of the 33KV Ashajipora-Dialgam line. This will impact the 33/11KV Receiving Station at Dialgam, leading to power outages in Dialgam, Shichen, and Brinty from 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM on March 8.

Meanwhile, emergency stabilization work by ED-Baramulla will necessitate the shutdown of the 33KV Sheeri-Baramulla-1st line, impacting Receiving Stations at Baramulla-1st and Kanlibagh. Areas including Baramulla Main Town, DC Office, Kanlibagh, Sangri, and nearby locations will experience power outages from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM on March 8.

To replace damaged wooden poles with new ST poles, the 33KV Nihalpora-Pattan-Amargarh line will be under shutdown, affecting Receiving Stations at Pattan, Palhalan, and Hamray. Power supply to Pattan, Zangam, Burn, Nihalpora, Pattan Hospital, Palhalan, Hamray, Wanigam, and adjoining areas will be disrupted from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM on March 10.

Furthermore, shutdowns have been scheduled for:

33/11KV Receiving Station Dhobiwan on March 8 for completion of pending works related to a transformer bay, affecting power supply to Lalpora-B, Hardaboora, Tarhama, and nearby areas from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM.

33KV Wanganpora-Soura line on March 8 for dismantling of a damaged four-pole tower near Aiwa Bridge. This will affect Soura, Zoonimar, Nowshera, and portions of 90 Ft Road from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.

33KV Alusteng-Nagbal line on March 9 to facilitate the installation of SMDB and pole erection for isolators. Areas including Shuhama, Bakura, Darend, Nagbal, Fatehpora, Gadoora, Tulbagh, and Chundina will be impacted from 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM.

33KV Kangan-Wussan line on March 9, affecting Wussan, Preng, Manigam, and Haripora from 10:30 AM to 01:30 PM.

Consumers in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements and cooperate with authorities as these upgrades aim to improve power infrastructure and ensure a more stable electricity supply in the future.
