Bandipora, Feb 21: The Congress unit in Bandipora has restructured its leadership in Bankoot Block, appointing Mushtaq Ahmed Lone as the new Block President.
A party spokesperson in Bandipora said the decision was taken during a meeting chaired by senior party leader Inamul Haq, with the consensus of all Halqa presidents.
He said the leadership changes aim to bolster the party’s grassroots presence in the region.
Speaking at the event, Inamul Haq emphasized the importance of strong local leadership in reinforcing the party’s foundation.
“Appointing dedicated individuals like Mushtaq Ahmed Lone will help us strengthen our outreach and address people’s concerns more effectively,” he said.
The meeting, held at the Congress office in Bankoot, was attended by key party figures, including Irshad Ahmad, Sarfaraz Reshi, Javid Ahmad, and Farooq Ahmad.
Several other key appointments were also made to enhance the party’s organizational strength including Vice Block President (General): Peerzada Shabir Ahmad Shah, Vice Block President (ST Community): Nazir Ahmad Khan, General Secretary: Khursheed Ahmad Khan, Organizer: Hilal Ahmad Malik, Treasurer: Abdul Samad Sheikh, Media Incharge: Ajaz Ahmad Mir
Expressing his gratitude, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone pledged to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people of Bankoot Block. “I am honored to take on this responsibility and will remain committed to addressing public concerns and strengthening the party at the grassroots level,” he stated.
The restructuring is part of the Congress Party’s broader strategy to rejuvenate its base in Bandipora and across the Kashmir Valley.
Spokesperson said by empowering local leadership, the party aims to engage with the community, address key local issues, and rebuild trust among the electorate.
