J&K GLTF Delegation Meets Dy CM, Highlights Key Issues

Jammu, Feb 11: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers’ Forum (JKGLTF), jointly led by Provincial President Anver H. Wani and Neeraj Sharma, called on Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Convener on Tuesday, Forum Spokesperson said the delegation apprised the Deputy CM of the pressing issues concerning General Line teachers across the Union Territory.

He said during the meeting, the Deputy CM gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them of his maximum possible support in addressing their concerns.

The issues listed in the charter of demands were discussed in detail, with the Deputy CM promising to take up the genuine concerns at the appropriate levels for redressal.

The delegation raised several key demands, including: Expedited promotions of teachers to Masters and Lecturers to curb stagnation, Reforms in the transfer policy and resolution of Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) loopholes, Rationalization of teaching posts based on Cluster Resource Planning (CRP) rather than the existing Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR) system, Creation of additional Lecturer posts in subjects that were previously uncovered, Revocation of Government Order 469 of 2014, Resolution of pay anomalies related to 2009 and increment issues from 2019, Establishment of a Teachers’ Welfare Fund to support educator and Granting of gazetted status to teachers who hold Postgraduate degrees or higher qualifications.

Spokesperson said Scores of teachers from across Jammu and Kashmir were part of the delegation, reflecting the widespread concerns of the teaching community.

The Publicity Wing of Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers’ Forum expressed optimism that the government would take necessary steps to resolve these long-pending issues.
