Capacity building prog for child help groups held at Bandipora

Bandipora, FEBRUARY 06: District Child Protection Unit, Mission Vatsalya, Bandipora, in collaboration with the District Administration, on Thursday organized a capacity building programme for various stakeholders, including the District Juvenile Police Unit, Bharat Scouts and Guides, NSS Volunteers, Self-Help Groups, and representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations.

The programme was aimed to sensitize participants about the formation of Child Help Groups at the sub-district, ward, and PRI levels. These groups play a crucial role in identifying children in need of care and protection at the grassroots level.

During the programme, Gowhar Mahmood, Protection Officer, highlighted the role and responsibilities of Child Help Groups in implementing the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Dr. Asima Hassan emphasized the responsibilities of the District Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, and Special Juvenile Police Unit besides Dr. Nasir Ahmad Bhat discussed the role of the Child Helpline.

In the closing remarks, Sahir Majeed, District Child Protection Officer, thanked the participants and stressed the importance of Child Help Groups in tracing children who require care and protection.

The programme was part of the Mission Vatsalya initiative, which aims to strengthen child protection services at the district level
