Rajouri, Jan : PG College Rajouri bade farewell to its Principal, Mussaraf Hussain Shah, in the last week of January, recognizing his years of dedicated and distinguished service to the institution.
The students and other staff members were filled with a mix of emotions—gratitude for his unwavering dedication, admiration for their leadership, and sadness at the thought of saying goodbye. Shah attainted superannuation as Principal on 22 January 2025.
Born in 1965 in the village of Banola in Mendhar Tehsil, Poonch district, Shah began his educational journey at High School Chhatral, where he completed his matriculation in 1980 with first division. He then pursued higher studies at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), earning master’s degrees in Chemistry and Sociology. Later, he moved to Hyderabad to complete a master’s in English before returning to Jammu, where he obtained his Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) from the University of Jammu.
Over the years, Professor Shah has served as more than just an administrator, holding the position of Principal in several colleges, including Government Degree College Poonch, Government Degree College Surankote, Government Degree College Darhal, and Government Degree College Mandi.
“Shah sir has been a mentor, a guide, and a pillar of strength for students and staff alike,” said a student from GDC Mandi.
Under his leadership, these colleges have flourished in countless ways—be it academic achievements, infrastructure development, or fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence. His visionary approach has left an indelible mark on the institutions, setting a standard of integrity and innovation that will continue to inspire many students.
Shah has also been a member of the Divisional level NAAC Committee for Jammu division Colleges. He is also the President , Pir Panjal Foundation for peace and Communal harmony—an organization that promotes peace, Communal harmony and national integration.He was also a member International society of development, Japan
Over the years Shah participated in a number of national, International Seminars and presented papers on over a dozen topics in National and International Conferences.
