Doctors at DH Bandipora Perform LSCS Surgery on Rare Uterine Condition

Bandipora, January 21, 2025: In a significant medical achievement, doctors at District Hospital Bandipora has successfully performed a complex Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) on a patient diagnosed with uterus didelphys, a rare and challenging uterine condition.

This is the first time such a procedure has been carried out at the hospital, marking a historic moment in local healthcare.

The procedure was particularly complicated due to the patient’s previous history of an LSCS, but the hospital’s medical team managed to safely deliver both the mother and her baby.

The successful surgery team was led by Dr. Yasmeen Gul, Consultant Gynaecologist who was assisted by Dr. Saleem Altaf, Consultant Anaesthetist; Dr. Firdous Ahmad, DGO; and Hilal Ahmad, OT Technician.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Masarat Iqbal expressed his pride in the team’s performance. “This achievement underscores our hospital’s commitment to offering top-quality healthcare services, even in the most challenging circumstances,” said Dr. Iqbal.

“Successfully saving both lives in such a complex case showcases the high level of expertise and dedication within our team.”

He said this rare surgery not only sets a new standard for medical care in Bandipora but also strengthens the hospital’s reputation as a leader in advanced healthcare services.
