Bandipora Residents Demand Discounts on Medicines to Ease Financial Burden

Bandipora, Jan 15: Residents of Bandipora district have voiced their concerns over the lack of discounts on medicines at local chemist shops, a privilege reportedly available in neighbouring towns like Sopore and Srinagar.

Locals said they get discounts of 10% to 15% on the maximum retail price (MRP) of medicines in neighbouring districts.

They said the absence of such discounts in Bandipora has become a significant financial strain, particularly for individuals managing chronic illnesses or living on limited incomes. “We are forced to pay the full MRP for medicines here, which adds to our financial hardships,” a local resident lamented, calling for parity in pricing policies across districts.

Residents appealed the authorities to take swift action to ensure fair pricing and discounts in Bandipora, aligning it with practices in other areas.
