Kashmir’s Handcrafted Pashmina Creations Shine at Grameen Bharat Mahotsav

New Delhi, January 7, 2025: The exquisite craftsmanship of Kashmir is captivating visitors at the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav, currently being held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Among the key participants is Kanisoz Shawl Producer Company from Bandipora, Jammu & Kashmir, showcasing its handcrafted pashmina creations.

Organized by NABARD and the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, the Mahotsav celebrates rural ingenuity and craftsmanship from across India. Kanisoz Shawl Producer Company, established in 2019, is exhibiting an array of pashmina products, including shawls, kurtis, pherans, and suit pieces. Known for their expertise in Sozni embroidery and the intricate art of weaving Kani pashmina shawls and carpets, the company represents the pinnacle of Kashmir’s rich textile heritage. Some of their showcased carpets are masterpieces requiring up to two months to complete.

The event, which runs until January 9, aims to promote rural development through interactive workshops, discussions, and exhibitions. It also emphasizes sustainable practices and financial inclusion, particularly for women entrepreneurs and artisans.

Kanisoz’s presence at the Mahotsav highlights the enduring significance of preserving traditional crafts and the critical role such platforms play in connecting artisans with broader markets. Their participation reinforces efforts to sustain and celebrate the timeless art forms of Kashmir while empowering its rural communities.
