Poonch, Dec 30: In a bid to provide essential healthcare services to residents of the remote Marha village in the Bafliaz area of Poonch district, the Indian Army conducted a free medical camp for the Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities on December 30, 2024.
The camp, staffed by Indian Army medical representatives and healthcare personnel, offered free health checkups, vaccinations, and medicines to 59 attendees, including 37 men, 13 women, and 9 children from Marha and nearby villages. The challenging terrain and harsh weather conditions in the region often make accessing medical care difficult, underscoring the importance of such initiatives.
In addition to medical consultations, the camp featured an awareness lecture covering immunization, family planning, child healthcare, hygiene, and sanitation. The session emphasized the role of balanced diets and good eating habits in maintaining overall health, aiming to equip the local population with preventive measures against common ailments.
The community expressed their gratitude for the Army’s efforts to bring healthcare to their doorstep, with many appreciating the personal touch and dedication of the Army personnel.
This initiative not only addressed the immediate healthcare needs of the residents but also reinforced the trust and bond between the Indian Army and the local population. It highlighted the Army’s commitment to reaching out to underserved communities and enhancing their quality of life, even in the most remote corners of the country.
