Flights resume at Srinagar AirportĀ

We expect 23 scheduled flights will operate normally today: Director Srinagar Airport

Srinagar, Dec 29 : After a challenging start to the day due to poor weather conditions, flights have started resuming operations at Srinagar Airport.

According to Director of Srinagar Airport, Javed Anjum, while morning visibility was severely limited by dense fog and low clouds, the situation has improved, allowing air traffic to return to normal.

ā€œToday, despite initial setbacks with the low visibility and fog, we have 23 scheduled flights operating normally. Four flights were initially diverted, two of which were canceled for operational reasons, while the other two have returned to their departure points,” Javed said as per news agency KINS.

“Additionally, one extra flight from Air India Express is scheduled for today.”

Although there were disruptions due to the weather , including the cancellation of around 37 flights yesterday and seven on December 27 due to snowfall, the situation is now under control.

“The Air Force has granted permission to operate until 7 PM today, which should allow us to manage the peak rush of passengers effectively,” added Javed.

For passengers planning to travel in the next 24-48 hours, the Director suggested keeping a close check on flight schedules. “With weather conditions improving, we anticipate more flights will be operating as scheduled. However, it’s best to confirm with airlines, especially considering the possibility of further changes in the weather,” he advised.
