Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers in Bandipora; Huge Quantity of Contraband Recovered

Bandipora, Dec 25: Bandipora Police have arrested three drug peddlers in separate incidents across the district and seized a significant quantity of contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.

During a naka checking at Papachan Bridge, police officials from the Bandipora Police Station apprehended one individual, Irshad Ahmad Wani, a resident of Habibullah Wani in Hajin. From his possession, officers recovered 47 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against him at PS Bandipora.

In a similar operation at Shokbaba Sumlar, another drug peddler, Ab Rashid Sheikh of Arin, was arrested. Police recovered 40 grams of a Charas-like substance from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has also been registered against him at PS Bandipora.

Meanwhile, during naka checking at Check Chandergeer, police stopped a Maruti Alto car with registration number JK15 C-0747 for inspection. During the search, 98 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were found. The car’s driver, Mohmad Aqib Wani, a resident of Gh Mohd Wani in Hajin, was arrested. In this case, a FIR under the NDPS Act has been filed at PS Hajin, and the vehicle used in the crime has been seized.

The police have reiterated that combating drug abuse is a collective responsibility and urged the public to join hands with the Jammu and Kashmir Police in safeguarding the community from the drug menace.
