Indian Army Marks 53rd Anniversary of Battle of Phuklian (Chenab) Enclave

Jammu, December 6: The Indian Army commemorated the 53rd anniversary of its historic victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war by celebrating the valor of its troops in the Battle of Phuklian (Chenab) Enclave. The Chenab Brigade, under the aegis of Tiger Division, organized a series of events to honor this momentous occasion.

The celebrations began on December 3 with a motorcycle rally flagged off to the border villages of Pargwal, Makwal, and Marh in Jammu and Kashmir. The rally aimed to connect with the youth and highlight the heroic exploits of the Indian Army.

As part of the outreach, the enthusiastic bikers of the Chenab Brigade conducted a movie screening and interacted with locals in the border villages. The festivities also included a friendly cricket match with local youth and a painting competition at various schools, fostering camaraderie and community engagement.

In a historic event today, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Tiger Division unveiled a monolith at Makwal village. The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of dignitaries from the civil administration, J&K Police, local residents, and schoolchildren from border villages.

The monolith stands as a lasting tribute to the bravery of the soldiers of the Chenab Brigade. Inscribed with the words, “Those who wrung it but never sung,” it embodies the indomitable spirit of nationalism and serves to inspire future generations to draw strength from the nation’s glorious past.

The commemoration of the Battle of Phuklian (Chenab) Enclave underscores the Army’s dedication to honoring its heroes and keeping their legacy alive in the hearts of the nation.
