KU’s North Campus Hosts “Reading to Empower” Event to Highlight Women’s Empowerment

Srinagar: The Women Development Cell of the University of Kashmir – North Campus organized an inspiring event titled “Reading to Empower” on Tuesday. The event featured celebrated author Dr. Henana Berjes, known for her literary contributions advocating for women’s empowerment and resilience.

An official spokesperson said the program began with opening remarks by Dr. Qazi Khursheed, Coordinator of the Department of English, who underscored the transformative power of literature in personal and societal change. Dr. Ambreen Wani, Convener of the Women Development Cell, followed with an overview of the event, emphasizing its objective to cultivate a culture of reading and dialogue among students.

The centerpiece of the event was an engaging and interactive session with Dr. Henana Berjes. She shared her journey as a writer, discussed the pivotal role of literature in women’s empowerment, and inspired students to express themselves through reading and writing.

The session fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives. The event concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Amin Parray, Senior Assistant Professor in the Department of English, who highlighted the transformative potential of literary discussions. Esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Bilal Kaloo, Dr. Omar Farooq, Dr. Maleeha Gul, Dr. Sumaira, and Dr. Shazia, actively participated, enriching the session with their insights.

Dr. Sabeha Mufti presented the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic involvement.
