GMS Onagam Reintroduces ‘Jummah Thool’ Tradition in MDM

Bandipora, November 8: Reviving an age-old tradition of gratitude, Govt Middle School (GMS) Onagam has introduced a unique initiative called “Jummah Thool.”.

In earlier times, students would express their appreciation for their Maktab teachers by gifting them eggs (thool) as a humble token of respect for their dedication on Fridays, hence called “Jummah Thool Friday’s Egg)”. Inspired by this tradition, GMS Onagam has now incorporated eggs into the midday meals (MDM) every Friday.

This thoughtful initiative not only serves to honor the cultural heritage of the region but also aims to provide students with nutritious meals, promoting both physical well-being and academic focus. School authorities believe that reintroducing this practice enriches students’ understanding of local customs and encourages them to value the role of education in their lives.

The “Jummah Thool” program has been warmly received by students, parents, and the community alike, who see it as a meaningful blend of tradition and modern-day educational values.
