Srinagar, Oct 12 : In preparation for the winter months, the Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) are intensifying their security measures along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent infiltration and potential terror attacks, according to officials.
Reliable sources told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) that additional troops and equipment have been deployed along the IB.
Regular patrols, enhanced surveillance, and joint operations between the Army and BSF are now in full swing to fortify the border ahead of winter.
A senior Army officer stationed in the Uri sector told KINS, “The Army is working closely with the BSF to ensure coordinated action. With the onset of winter, it is critical to prevent any infiltration attempts as terrorists often take advantage of the fog and difficult terrain.”
BSF officials added that advanced anti-fog devices, drones, and other technological aids will be deployed to monitor the border more effectively. “Winter brings challenges with dense fog and harsh conditions, but we are committed to securing the borders and preventing any cross-border movement of militants,” a BSF official said.
The officials also highlighted that ongoing efforts include the construction of new border fences, roads, and surveillance infrastructure. Upgraded training and equipment for border forces are also part of the government’s strategy to ensure a robust defense along the IB.
“The government is fully committed to national security and has taken multiple steps to strengthen border security, especially during winter when infiltration attempts are higher,” the official explained. “From mid-November until the weather improves, we will implement a comprehensive winter strategy to ensure our borders remain impregnable.”
The Army’s top commanders are regularly holding meetings with formations to recalibrate the counter-infiltration grid and close any gaps that may allow terrorists to slip through.
Security forces in New Delhi are closely monitoring the situation, with senior officials ensuring that every measure is being taken to thwart potential threats during the challenging winter months.
