GCET Kashmir organizes Engineers Day to celebrate the essence of Engineering

Ganderbal, 19 Sep: In a jubilant affair at Govt. College of Engineering and Technology Kashmir, faculty and students alike came together to commemorate Engineers Day with a day-long event filled with enthusiasm and innovation. The event, held on September 19, 2024, was a testament to the spirit of engineering excellence that thrives within the institution.

The celebrations kicked off with a grand inauguration ceremony, graced by prominent faculty members and distinguished guests from the engineering community. Students and faculty showcased their technical prowess through various competitions, presentations, and project exhibitions, highlighting the cutting-edge research and creativity fostered at GCET Kashmir.

The Engineers Day festivities at GCET Kashmir were elevated by a warm welcome address delivered by Prof Saleem Iqbal, the Head of the Civil Engineering Department. Prof Saleem’s opening remarks set the tone for a day filled with celebration, learning, and inspiration.

In his address, Prof Saleem highlighted the importance of Engineers Day in recognizing the invaluable contributions of engineers to society. He emphasized the role of engineers in driving innovation, solving complex challenges, and shaping a sustainable future. Prof Saleem’s words resonated with the audience, instilling a sense of pride and purpose in the engineering community gathered at GCET Kashmir.

 

As the HOD of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof Saleem Iqbal’s welcome address not only set the stage for the day-long event but also underscored the commitment of GCET Kashmir to fostering a culture of excellence and leadership in engineering education. His words of encouragement and wisdom inspired attendees to embrace the spirit of Engineers Day and strive for excellence in their academic and professional pursuits.

 

Following the warm welcome address, a Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Asiya Quyoum, the Head of the Computer Science Engineering Department. Her keynote speech was a true highlight of the Engineers Day celebrations at GCET Kashmir. Prof. Asiya’s address was not just a speech but a beacon of inspiration that illuminated the path for all attendees. Her words resonated deeply, urging students to embrace change, nurture creativity, and lead the charge in technological innovation. The keynote address by Prof. Asiya Quyoum added a layer of profound wisdom and foresight to the event, setting a tone of ambition and empowerment for the students of GCET Kashmir.

Throughout the day-long event, teachers delivered insightful presentations on different engineering disciplines, ranging from Mechanical and Civil Engineering to Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. These presentations not only showcased the depth of knowledge within the faculty but also provided students with valuable insights into the diverse career paths available in the field of engineering.

As the day progressed, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as students engaged in spirited competitions, including debate, quiz and logo-making competition.

The speech competition was a captivating segment of the Engineers Day celebrations at GCET Kashmir. Their speeches resonated with the audience, showcasing not only their public speaking skills but also their depth of knowledge and passion for their respective topics. The competition added a layer of intellectual stimulation to the event, further highlighting the diverse talents of the students at GCET Kashmir. Azim bin Shabir’s eloquence captured the audience, securing him the coveted 1st position in the speech competition, while Bushra’s finesse earned her the 2nd position.

The quiz competition tested the knowledge and quick thinking of participants, challenging them with questions spanning various engineering disciplines. Students showcased their expertise and problem-solving skills, making the quiz a dynamic and engaging part of the celebration. The quiz competition witnessed the Computer Science department clinching the top spot, with Mechanical following closely in 2nd place.

Simultaneously, the logo-making competition provided a platform for students to unleash their creativity and design skills. Participants crafted innovative and visually appealing logos that captured the essence of engineering and innovation. The competition not only showcased the artistic talents of the students but also highlighted the importance of creativity in engineering. Creativity flourished in the logo-making competition, with Faheem Ahmad’s design prowess earning him the 1st position and Suhaib Reyaz securing the 2nd position with his artistic flair.

The festivities culminated with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Wasil Ayoub, a dedicated member of the Organizing Committee, expressing gratitude to HOD’s of all branches besides faculty, all participants and attendees for making the event a resounding success.

The Engineers Day celebrations at GCET Kashmir were a true testament to the talent, spirit, and unity that define the college community, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
