Srinagar, Sep 14 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reiterated the BJP’s firm stance against the restoration of Article 370 and the reintroduction of a separate flag in Jammu and Kashmir, a move that he claims the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Congress wish to pursue.
In an interview with a Jammu-based newspaper, Shah stated the transformation of Jammu and Kashmir under the current government, highlighting the positive change among the youth.
“Today, the youth of Kashmir hold the Tiranga, not stones—this is our greatest achievement,” he added.
He credited this shift to the government’s efforts in restoring peace and normalcy in the Union territory, suggesting a significant departure from the past tumultuous years.
He criticized the National Conference (NC) and Congress, accusing them of trying to eliminate reservations for Gujjar, Bakarwal, Pahari, Dalit, and OBC communities.
Hementioned that the defeat of the “Abdullahs (NC) and the Muftis (PDP) reflects the people’s changing sentiments, suggesting that new political leadership is on the rise in the region”.
Reaffirming the government’s stance on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), he stated that it belongs to India and expressed a commitment to reclaim it.
He highlighted the “irony of those who once demanded a separate nation now participating in elections, indicating a shift in the political landscape”.
He reiterated the government’s stance that there will be no talks with Pakistan until terrorism ceases, emphasizing national security concerns.
He referred to the progress in the Peer Panjal region, indicating that it has transitioned from a local to a global stage, possibly referencing economic or infrastructural development.
Amit Shah as per news agency KINS said that stone-pelting and anti-India agitations, which were once prevalent in the region, have ended under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, highlighting a significant change in law and order.
