Bandipora, September 05: The Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) of District Election Office Bandipora has issued show cause notice to a journalist for violating Model Code of Conduct Norms by resorting to election campaign of a politician on social media.
District Information Officer Bandipora who is member secretary MCMC, has asked the journalist of TV100 News to explain his position within a day failing which action under rules may be taken against him.
“…Media Certification and Monitoring Committee Bandipora observed that you were involved in affecting the level playing field of Candidates for the General Election to Legislative Assembly -2024 by urging general public to Vote and support a particular person which is in contravention to the principles and conventions of Journalism besides MCC violation,” reads the notice.
MCMC notice stated that Media persons are supposed to remain apolitical and desist from generating a narrative and campaigning for a particular candidate of any political party, However, “this office (MCMC) has noticed your continuous involvement in propagating and campaigning for a single candidate namely “Naseer Ah Mir’, thereby affecting public opinion and people’s choice”.
