Student leader Nasir Khuehami has been re-elected as the National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) for a second consecutive term in the organization election's on Saturday. Khuehami was elected through a voice vote in which all Central working committee (CWC) leaders participated. He will serve the Association as a National Convenor for next one year term. His name was proposed by Chief Advisor of association Danish Lone and supported by all CWC members. It is for the second time Khuehami has been re-elected as National Convenor of the Association.
Khuehami, often referred to as a "Knight in Shining Armour" by his peers, has been at the forefront of all distress and crisis situations involving students from Jammu and Kashmir. As a crisis manager, he has helped thousands of students, businessmen, and laborers across the country and abroad, providing invaluable support during times of need.
Expressing his gratitude to the entire association for their continued trust and support, Khuehami pledged to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to him and to ensure the success of JKSA’s initiatives.
"I am deeply honored by the confidence the association has placed in me," Khuehami said. "I will continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of students, regardless of whether I hold a position of power."
Khuehami has been vocal about critical issues such as the right to education, unemployment, and the political situation in Jammu and Kashmir. His advocacy has played a significant role in bringing these issues to the forefront.
Pertinent to mention, Khuehami rose to prominence while leading the student rescue operation in 2019 when racist and sectarian violence erupted against Kashmiri students in Indian cities as revenge following the militant attack in Pulwama, Kashmir. During this crisis, he evacuated over 10,000 students to safer places across the country, showcasing his exceptional crisis management skills.
Over the years, Khuehami has interacted with dozens of Members of Parliament and Chief Ministers across the country to address the difficulties experienced by Kashmiri students pursuing their education in mainland India. His efforts have been instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for these students.
Khuehami emphasized his commitment to working as a team for the upliftment and welfare of the student community. "I pledge to bridge the gap between students and centree government and the respective state governments and law enforcement agencies, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment," he added.
Under his leadership, Jammu and Kashmir Students Association has been instrumental in advocating for the rights and welfare of students from Jammu and Kashmir studying across India. Khuehami promised to continue his efforts in ensuring their safety, empowerment, and access to scholarships and other benefits.
"We will relentlessly work towards creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students, ensuring they receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally," Khuehami stated.
As Khuehami embarks on his second term, he remains committed to addressing the challenges faced by Kashmiri students and to furthering the association's mission of empowering the youth through education and advocacy.
