Budgam, May 4: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Budgam and Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Chare-I-Sharief on Saturday organised an awareness program at Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Chrar-e-Sharief aimed at providing legal legal knowledge about the Child friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection Scheme 2015.
Chairman of DLSA, Budgam Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Secretary of DLSA, Srinagar Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi, Regional Director of Moulana Azad National Urdu University Dr. Mohammad Aijaz Ashraf, Chairman of Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Chare-I-Sharief Fakhur-un-Nisa, Principal Govt. Boys Hr. Sec. School Chare-I-Sharief Manzoor Ahmad, SHO of Chare-I-Sharief Syed Owais Geelani, President of Bar Association, Chare-I-Sharief Advocate Masooq Ahmad and President of HRACF (HQ) Delhi Mudasir Ahmad were present on the occasion besides penal lawyers, members of civil society, staff members, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC and students.
In his presidential remarks, Chairman of DLSA, Budgam Khalil Ahmad Choudhary emphasized the importance of legal awareness in ensuring justice for all. He highlighted the role of legal aid clinics in providing free legal aid to the underprivileged.
Secretary of DLSA, Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Bakshi stressed the need for community engagement in legal matters and applauded the efforts of TLSC, Char-e-Shareef, for their proactive approach in legal awareness.
Chairperson TLSC, Chare-I-Sharief Fakur-un-Nisa highlighted the significance of legal awareness about the beneficial provisions of legal aid for children in need of care and protection and children-in-conflict with law.
Dr. Mohammad Aijaz Ashraf expressed his gratitude towards the organizers and emphasized the significance of legal literacy in promoting social justice and equity.
The event commenced with heartwarming recitation of Holy Quran and Naath Shareef.
Principal Manzoor Ahmad presented welcome address to all the dignitaries, participants and highlighted the importance of legal education in shaping responsible citizens.
Adv. Reyaz Ahmad, Panel Lawyer TLSC, Chaare-I-Sharif, gave an overview of Juvenile Justice Care & protection Act, 2015.
The proceedings of the programme was moderated by Mr. Waseem Rasool, Panel Lawyer TLSC of Chare-I-Sharief.
An official said the program included informative sessions on various legal provisions enacted for the benefit of children and interactive sessions equipping the students with the necessary legal knowledge to navigate through the complexities of the legal system.
