Jammu, March 15: Only a few days after the cash awards were transferred into the accounts of the outstanding performers both at the International and National level, the Sports Council Friday distributed sports kits among the registered trainees of its Khelo India Centres.
The function was held at the M.A. Stadium Jammu, in which the trainees of district Jammu from the disciplines of Soft Tennis, Table Tennis, and Hockey received new sports kits.
Pertinently the kit distribution function was held after following the proper verification of individual NSRS and KID numbers. The function was supervised by Muhammad Hanief, Chief Sports Officer; Baljinder Pal Sing, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Nodal Officer of KIC and High-Performance Coaches and other coaches besides many officials of Sports Council were also present on the occasion.
More than a hundred brand-new sports kits which included a tracksuit, shirt, shorts, stockings, shoes, and a kit bag were part of the package. Similar Sports kits will be distributed among trainees from the Khelo India Centres belonging to other districts as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Hanief, Chief Sports Officer said that all the Khelo India Centres in J&K are functional, adding that J&K is fortunate to hold the distinction of surpassing other states and union territories in the number of such centers and has become the first to achieve the milestone of crossing the hundred figure mark in the entire country.
The Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Baljinder Pal Sing said that besides a hundred operational Khelo India Centres, two Khelo India Centres of Excellence in Water Sports and Fencing are also functional, adding that more than 120 past athletes have been hired to train prospective talent in these centers during last few years.
