DDAC organises Mega Awareness on Drug De-Addiction and Counselling in Bandipora

Bandipora, February,29: the District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora on Thrusday organised a mega awareness Program on Drug De-Addiction and Counselling at ICDS Centre Ashtangoo Ghat Bandipora.

An official spokesperson said the programme was held in collaboration with district administration and Department of social Welfare and the implementing agency JKSWM under NMBA Action Plan of District Administration Bandipora.

Officials said a huge gathering of participants including students, ICDS workers, ASHAAs, Social Welfare Officials and local youth was witnessed in the event that featured a line up of speakers who addressed various aspects of drug addiction. 

Showkat Ahmad, PC, DDAC, Bandipora took on the role of providing an overview of the drug addiction scenario in Bandipora. Whereas Ms Shabnum Shaban, Counselor, DDAC, shared her first-hand experiences with drug victims. She delved into the signs and symptoms of drug addiction, helping attendees identify potential cases.

 Jawahar Ahmad, ORW, discussed the critical role of teachers, frontline workers, community and students in addressing this issue and the responsibility at individual levels to combat the said menace. 

The event concluded with a pledge to collectively combat drug addiction in society. Posters and pamphlets highlighting the detrimental effects of drug abuse, as well as the facilities and services available at DDAC, were also distributed among attendees during the event.
