Anyone can now buy land in Kashmir valley: LG Sinha

Spoke at TV9 Bharatvarsh Global Summit: What India Thinks Today

New Delhi, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that anyone can now buy land in the Kashmir valley and Kashmiri Pandits now feel powerful and empowered.

“We have become economically strong. Jammu and Kashmir was the place where even the President of India could not take an inch of space. An Indian soldier could sacrifice his life to protect Jammu and Kashmir, but could not build even a hut there,” he said this while elaborating on the positive changes made in the last four years in Jammu and Kashmir while speaking at TV9 Bharatvarsh Global Summit: What India Thinks Today?

“This is a big transformation. From social point of view, the work of empowering 100 million people has been accomplished under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,” he added.

On being asked about what has been the development in Jammu and Kashmir in the past four years, he said that “I observe that today people of all religions have the freedom to celebrate their festivals in Kashmir. The picture here has changed.

He referred to the Kashmiri Pandits saying that the community had been suffering for a long time, and now they are feeling powerful. The backward classes of society had reservations in jobs, panchayat elections and education in other parts of the country, but not in Jammu and Kashmir, now they are getting all those things. Kashmir has changed since the abrogation of Article 370. Peace cannot be bought here now. There flourishes good governance only.
