Srinagar, Jan 24: Jammu & Kashmir's Emergency Medical Services, known as 108/102, celebrated a milestone by assisting in 1000 deliveries since their launch in March 2020.
Operated by BVG India Ltd in collaboration with the Government of J&K, these services have become a crucial support system for pregnant women in the region.
Trained ambulance staff played a key role in facilitating these deliveries, supporting expectant mothers during childbirth. In total, the emergency services have served an impressive 2,71,801 patients, demonstrating their commitment to healthcare delivery.
Even during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, they served 12,111 patients, showcasing resilience in times of crisis.
Of the patients served, 29% (78,175) were related to pregnancy emergencies, emphasising the essential role these emergency services play in maternal care. District-wise breakdowns reveal Unhamper as the leader in pregnancy cases, followed by Rajouri, Kupwara, and Kathua.
Udhampur leads in district-wise assisted births with 229 deliveries, followed by Kathua, Jammu, and Ramban. This milestone not only signifies the successful assistance of 1000 deliveries but also underscores the crucial role these emergency services play in healthcare infrastructure across the region.
This public-private partnership between BVG India Ltd and the Government of J&K exemplifies effective collaboration for the greater good, ensuring the health and well-being of the community.
