Baramulla, Dec 27: The inaugural session of the webinar series "Convergence 360: Exploring Advances in Science, Humanities, and Technology – 2023," titled "Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Navigating the Future with Strategic Administration and Progressive Policy Making," was on Thursday.
The event as per the statement was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of GDC Baramulla under the patronage and guidance of Principal Secretary J&K Higher Education Department, Sh. Alok Kumar (IRS). The event marked a significant milestone in fostering academic exploration under the umbrella of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
The inaugural day of the webinar featured Prof. Vikram Singh, Former Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, and Hon'ble Chancellor of Noida International University, Prof. Neerja Mattoo, an eminent writer and educationist, and Sh. Abhay Kumar, Deputy Director-General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi. Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib, Coordinator IQAC, moderated the first session of the webinar and introduced the theme and objective of the webinar series.
Dr. Mutahar highlighted GDC Baramulla’s long-standing commitment to leading such initiatives and emphasised the academic importance of organising such events. The overarching theme of Convergence 360, as Dr. Mutahar explained, is to provide insight into futuristic knowledge, envisioning thin boundaries between disciplines as new educational policies move in that direction.
The guest speaker for the first session, Prof. Vikram Singh, Chancellor of Noida International University and Former DGP, Uttar Pradesh, was introduced as "a man of profound wisdom and knowledge, the most decorated police officer in the country, who has dedicated his life to the country."
Prof. Shiekh Ajaz Bashir, Nodal Principal, Kashmir Division Colleges, formally e-inaugurated the webinar series. He emphasised the role of a forty-trillion-dollar economy in leading Viksit Bharat 2047 to success and underscored the significance of education in colleges and schools for the future of the country. He also congratulated the organisers for such an initiative.
Earlier, Prof. Mohammad Farooq Rather, principal of the college, welcomed guests and participants from across the country. He spoke about India's diversity and its notable ascent in global education rankings, moving from 30th to the top 10.
The inaugural function concluded with Prof. Tariq Ahmed Chalkoo, Dean of Skill Development and Staff Secretary, proposing a formal vote of thanks. Prof. Chalkoo expressed gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organisers for their contributions to the success of Convergence 360, emphasising the role each individual plays in shaping the future of India.
