Srinagar, Dec 28: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) has expressed strong support for the government's recent circular mandating the adoption of a uniform curriculum across all schools in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Embracing uniform books is seen as a positive step that not only enhances the future prospects of schools but also fosters healthy competition among students in the union territory," the forum said.
This significant decision is lauded as a historic move by the JKGLTF. It emphasised the need for a subsequent overhaul of textbooks by the board to align with national and international standards.
It also said that the J&K government's initiative is geared towards standardising the curriculum across government and privately affiliated schools under the JK Board.
Earlier, circular from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE), private educational institutions affiliated with the board are instructed to adopt textbooks published by the Board.
The timing of this directive coincides with concerns about private schools allegedly overcharging parents for textbooks from private publishers.
