Bandipora, Dec 01: Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization (KESO) Bandipora on Friday organised a day-long function to commemorate World AIDS day to sensitize the student community about the emerging and dangerous trends of AIDS at Army GoodWill School Bandipora.
The function was presided by Shabnum Kounser Principal of the host School which was attended by all the staff members of the School, students and other office bearers of the Organization.
The program was organised in close coordination with the health department of District Bandipora as the doctors were deputed by the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bandipora.
Dr. Showket Shafi Bhat Clinical psychologist in his speech discussed the psychological trauma of AIDS patients. He told the Aids about Social taboo associated with the disease. He appealed to all the stakeholders to ensure the safety of their dear ones and report the doctors in case there is any symptom of AIDS.
Dr. Khalid Bashir in his address presented a grim picture of the AIDS patients. He elaborated the role of Healthcare Establishments in curbing the Disease. He appreciated the efforts of the organisation for conducting such a program. He told the audience that if the disease is not controlled at the right time, it will be catastrophic in future.
He appealed to the students to refrain from all the activities which may cause the disease.
Appreciating the role of Health department and Organizing body the Principal in her address ,said that the school collaborated with District Hospital Bandipora and Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization Bandipora to observe World AIDS day in order to create awareness among the larger audience about the virus.
She said that “It is not merely a customary function. The initiative will inculcate the knowledge and awareness among masses about the disease and having knowledge is vital for the survival of the human race against the diseases,” she said. In her Speech She informed the audience that the society is recognized by the health and education sector. “Education and health sectors are the main two pillars of the society while the doctor acts as a backbone for his society,” she said. She said being knowledgeable about any problem paves way for finding a solution to it.
Showket Ahmad, organising Secretary of Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization Bandipora in his address said the program was organised to sensitise people to end social stigma associated with disease. “We have to fight together to end the menace and also educate citizens about the communicable and non-communicable diseases,” he said.
“If one does not have knowledge about the problem, he or she cannot find a solution to it,” he said. Later the Doctors were also felicitated by the Kashmir Environmental and Social Organization Bandipora for their role during the program.
