Baramulla, Nov 01: Amidst sombre scenes, a wreath laying ceremony for policeman Ghulam Mohammad Dar killed in militant attack at Tangmarg village on Tuesday evening was held at DPL in Baramulla.
As learnt by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), DIG North Kashmir, Vivek Gupta led the senior officers of police including the SSP Baramulla, paramilitary forces, civil administration and relatives of martyred in paying rich floral tributes to him.
Dar, soon after being shot by the attacker near his residence at Wailoo was taken to sub district hospital Tangmarg, however, he was pronounced dead by the doctors who attended him.
“He had several bullet marks on his chest,” a senior doctor at Tangmarg hospital told KNO.
“There were few rounds of bullets which panicked us., Upon enquiring, it was learnt that Ghulam Mohammad was shot with several bullets and has been taken to hospital,” a relative of Dar, who attended his last rites
The slain policeman is survived by seven daughters and a wife, he said.
The slain was Head Constable rank officer and was posted at District Police Lines in Srinagar. “Soon after the incident, the whole area was cordoned off by the contingent of security forces”.
The attack comes a day after a non-local labourer was shot dead by the unidentified militants at Pulwama district in South Kashmir. Earlier on Sunday, an Inspector of Police was shot and injured in Srinagar's Eidgah area—(KNO)
