Bandipora, Oct 30: A lower segment Caesarean section (LSCS) service has been initiated at night starting from Monday at the district hospital in North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
According to an official, this service was introduced for the first time in the hospital to address the challenges faced by pregnant women during night-time, ending the need to transfer them to the hospital in Srinagar
"Pregnant women have been experiencing difficulties during night-time for an extended period. During a recent visit by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, this concern was raised with him. Consequently, he directed the district administration and hospital authorities to initiate this service," he added.
"The administration and hospital authorities promptly took action, making necessary arrangements to commence this service from today. This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to the expecting mothers in the district," the official added.
Meanwhile, the local residents have praised the government's action, emphasising that this initiative was long overdue for the district. Pregnant women from remote areas within the district had been encountering considerable difficulties during night-time hours, compelling their referral to the Srinagar hospital for treatment as there were no viable local alternatives available.
Gulam Mohiuddin Rather, the District Development Council (DDC) representative for Arin Constituency, has applauded and welcomed the administration's decision, foreseeing an end to the hardships faced by pregnant women, particularly those from rural areas, during nighttime.
