Udhampur, Oct 06 Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Friday dedicated two six Kilo Litre BPLs (Bulk Petroleum Lorries) to Northern Command of Indian Army at Udhampur.
Defence spokesperson in Jammu said Transshipment of fuel for the Indian Army in the difficult terrain of Northern Command has always been a very challenging task. He said BPCL, a Navrattna Oil Marketing Company has been a major stake holder in not only providing fuel but also building up of technical infrastructure for storage and transportation of the same. BPCL dedicated the lorries for the convenience of the Indian Army.
Subikash Jena, Executive Director, Industrial & Commercial, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited formally handed over the BPLs to Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, COS, HQ Northern Command.
These BPLs would provide necessary fillip for trans-shipment of fuel main grades across Khardung La. Such civil military fusion initiatives go a long way in nation building & augmenting the logistics infrastructure & resources in the difficult terrain of Ladakh, spokesperson said.
BPCL has been a pioneer in providing Low Sulphur Low Aromatic (LSLA) Kerosene to the IA as an alternative to SKO, which is a cleaner fuel and emits low smoke, thereby contributing towards Go Green initiatives of the nation in reducing carbon footprints.
BPCL has also introduced Diesel all Winter Grade DHPP (AWG) to reduce the inventory of a variety of DHPP grades viz DHPP (N), DHPP (W) & DHPP (Z), thereby contributing towards efficient fuel management.
