Consumer Dispute Redressal Court, FCS&CA organises awareness programme in Bandipora

Bandipora Feb 14: The Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Bandipora on Tuesday conducted an introductory meeting cum awareness camp at AD Office Mini Sect Bandipora. 

The camp was presided over by President Consumer Dispute Redressal Court Baramulla Peerzada Qousar Hussain, Member CDRC Nyla Yaseen, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Bilal Ahmad Najar and was attended by TSOs and other officials of FCS&CA Bandipora. 

The President said that the programme was held with the objective of creating awareness among the officials and to establish a consumer dispute redressal cell at the office of Asst Director FCS and CA Office Bandipora for facilitation of the general public. 

During the programme, awareness regarding rights of consumers, precautions to be taken while receiving cooking-gas delivery, labeling norms on the pre-packaged commodities, issues of maximum retail price, online-buying from e-commerce entities, e-filing of complaints, consumer protection Act 2019, right to seek redressal, right to consumer education, right to be heard, right to choose and other issues were provided to the participants. 

Moreover, it was also added by the President that the District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission/Court Baramulla is going to organize Upbhokta Lok Adalat at Government Quarter B3 KH Bagh Baramulla on 25 February 2023 for speedy disposal of the pending cases. 

Accordingly the general public is appealed to approach the concerned office in case they have any grievance and are interested in settlement of their cases or settlement of any Pre litigation cases.

The Assistant Director on the occasion said that consumers do not have to silently accept substandard quality products, poor service, billing errors, late deliveries and unordered merchandise.

He said Consumers have the right to speak up and voice their dissatisfaction. If problems cannot be resolved with the seller, they can seek immediate recourse from District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission Baramulla, he added.
