Kargil shuts, demand one UT one permit

Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNA) :On the call of All Transport Association Kargil, the whole Kargil observed complete peaceful shutdown 

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir News Apex- (KNA) that there was not traffic movement seen in Kargil even in the busy Bus stand area and Kargil town and all the shops and business establishments remained closed.

They said that all the stakeholders of District Kargil including religious, social and civil societies have supported the Bandh call.


It’s pertinent to mention here that Taxi Union Kargil is on strike from the last many days in support of one UT one Permit and are requesting the UT administration to solve the issue of Permit for the Taxis of Ladakh.

Meanwhile, the Regional Transport Officer Ladakh has called a meeting  at his office where ARTO Kargil, ARTO Leh, Chairman All Kargil Transport Association, Chairman All Ladakh Transport Association Leh, President Truck Union Leh/Kargil, President Bus Union Leh/ Kargil, President Taxi Union Leh/ Kargil, President Swaraj Mazda Leh/ Kargil, President Tempo Traveller Leh attended.

President Taxi Union Kargil Mohammad Ibrahim and all other stake holders through a Video message from Leh said that the meeting was not successful and asked the public and all stake holders to support the Bandh Call given by All Kargil transport Union.

Dy Sp Headquarters Kargil Manzoor Ahmads said that adequate Security arrangements has been made by District Police Kargil. 

Nakkas has been established at different locations and patrolling by Police is underway along National Highway and other routes and there is no restriction on traffic movement, he said. 

The National Highway is also open for traffic, emergencies and essential services are running smoothly, he said.

Manzoor Ahmad said that Medical Shops are open and all other establishments are partially closed, there is no restriction and police is there to provide security to the general public and also for those who are in distress.

He further added that Marathon Meeting is going under the supervision of Divisional Commissioner Ladakh and soon a positive result is expected. (KNA)
