Bandipora Oct 2: Birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated here in Mini-Secretariat of Bandipora District.
In connection with Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations, District administration Bandipora in collaboration with Chief Education Officer organized various events in Mini secreatrait's Conference Hall to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
Dr Owais Ahmad Deputy Commissioner bandipora was the chief guest on the occasion. Paying rich tributes to Gandhi Ji on his 153rd birth anniversary, Dr. Owais In his speech said that Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest world leaders and his ideas and views about non-violence won global acclamation and this day is also celebrated globally as international day of non-violence.The other officers present from the District administration include Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Hakak(District programme officer ICDS Bandipora & Nodal officer of various district level activities and Assitant Commisioner development.
Chief Education Officer Mr G.M lone(National Awardee)also throws light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and his ideas of non-violence. Mr Lone said that the life and teachings of the father of nation are a torch bearer for all of us in all walks of our lives. He advised the students and audience of school education department that need of hour is to practice the teaching of Gandhi for achieving lasting peace in the world.
The month long celebrations were carried out by all the schools of the district as per the calendar issued by the director school education kashmir. All the schools of the district participated in various activities like essay writing,painting competition, slogan writing,Quiz competitions,speeches with the theme of Gandhian philosophy of life so as to make the students understand and inculcate values taught by Gandhi.
Later, Dr owais felicitated the students that excelled in different activities and competitions including essay writing, slogan writing ,painting and quiz competitions during month-long Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The first position in the essay and painting competition was won by Soliha Rather and Iqra of Girls higher secondary Bandipora. In poem recitation and slogan writing Zainab of MS CB Bala and Syed Aqib of HSS Nowgam registered their first positions.
In another segment of activities related to Nasha Mukt bharat the students from HSS Madwan,BMS kaloosa,Ghs Sumbal & BHSS Dawar were also felicitated on the occasion
