Bandipora, Sep 17 : The residents of Brar, Malikpora Chitteybandy and adjoining habitations are up in arms against the Roads & Buildings department for failing to repair the said road subjecting the residents of a dozen villages to extreme hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
Locals told Kashmir Convener that the 2-kilometers stretch of road from Brar to Malikpora Chitteybandy is in shambles and dotted with potholes giving trouble to the travelers. They said that the distance that can be covered in ten minutes is covered in more than half an hour owing to potholes all over the road.
Gowher Rasool a local of the Malikpora village said the condition of the road from Brar to Malikpora is in deplorable condition and it is painful for us especially school children and patients and devotees travelling on the road.
A pregnant woman from Malikpora while expressing strong resentment said it is a nightmare for patients to travel on the shabby road when they have to go to hospital.
Scores of locals said that the road had remained unattended and in a dilapidated condition for many years now with authorities taking no steps to restore its condition to ease the life of locals and commuters.
“The sudden jerks while travelling are risky for every pregnant lady and the unborn child. This is very unfortunate, we are now fed up,” she said.
The residents complained several times to R&B to macadamize the road, but nothing has been done so far.
