Rabid Dogs wreak havoc in Bandipora village, 32 year old man bitten

Bandipora, 18 Sep: A 32-year-old man identified as Altaf Hussain Dar was bitten by rabid dog on Sunday in Gamroo Village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district triggering panic in the area with many scared of coming out of their houses as the stray pack kept prowling there throughout the day.

Witnesses said some stray dogs on prowl attacked passerby whoever came their way.“The residents of village Gamroo said that the stray dogs are on prowl in their area and have attacked and injured many people  from last few days forcing them to stay indoors,” They said none of the government functionary visited the village to neutralize the rapid pack.

Residents said that the population of the dogs are increasing in the village and authorities are not concerned about the issue and are acting as mute spectators.

They appealed authorities to act against the increasing population of the rapid dogs.

Residents said that they have stopped sending their children out of their homes as they fear dogs are roaming around in the village and attack whosoever comes in their way.

Shabir ul islam a resident of Gamroo village said that the dogs that are present in hundreds in Gamroo and Papchan villages have made the lives of people hell as they have stopped sending their children out of their homes as they fear dogs are roaming around in the villages and attack whosoever comes in their way. “We appeal authorities to curb the dog population and kill the stray dogs in the area. If it will not oblige then locals will be forced to kills these stray dogs themselves,” he said.

On duty Medical officer said, “that free anti-rabies injection was given to injured person initially and will be assisted in future course as well”.
