GDC Baramulla’s Media Studies Department hosts “Media Festival”

Baramulla Sep 10:The Department of Media Studies of Govt. Degree College Baramulla organized a day-long Media Festival on Saturday hat was attended by Media Students from across the Kashmir Valley Colleges.

An official spokesperson said after a long Gap of nearly four years media festival was celebrated at GDC Baramulla "Showcasing the talent of future communicators"the festival was attended by students of the media departments of Govt College for Women M A Road Srinagar, Govt Degree College Anantnag, Kashmir University,Cluster university srinagar, standard students from different higher secondary schools of Baramulla district.

During the day-long media festival, around 10 films made by the media students of various colleges were screened, which were acclaimed by the audience. 

In the photography exhibition, pictures, sketches, calligraphy and poetry posters of the students on various themes were displayed, Skit performances on media and social issues were also part of the festival. The Exhibition attracted a large audience who appreciated the presentations of the media students.

In the long Day Media festivel a short movie"When it is too late",directed by Nayeem and Danish Mir student of Media studies of Govt Degree Collage Baramulla was also released.

In inaugural address Head of Department (HOD) media studies GDC Baramulla Dr Danish Nabi,formally welcomed all the guests, students who participated in the media festival,and said that the media festival aims to provide a platform to the budding journalists of the institute to showcase their talent in front of Juries.

Principal GDC Baramulla, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Rather was the chief Guest of the event along with Vice principal Dr.Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, faculty members from different media collages of valley,Juries including Showkat Nanda was the part of the event.

 Kashmir Convener, the tale of the day were the media partner for this event while as October Saffron, Cafe Pirates, I Signature Loreal (Mint Shopping Complex Baramulla), Advanced Diagnostic Center Baramulla, Haya Apparels Store(Park Road Baramulla), Mann te Salva Sopore, Tale of a day and Mankoo Jewelers Baramulla will be the official sponsors of the festival.

Prize distribution ceremony was held after the screening of all the movies and skits to facilitate the students.

Senior faculty member of the college Mr.Tariq Ahmed Chalkoo proposed vote of thanks at the end.
