Bandipora Sep 2: Students of Higher Secondary School Arin Bandipora alleged that the school management is failing to provide adequate drinking water facilities.

They said there is direct tab water supply which mostly remains out of order, and without filtration students are left high and dry.

A student said, "In these hot summer days we yearn for water like thirsty crows, the regular PHE taps remains dry during school timing as it provides water early morning and in evening,".

As Per the 2018 report of UNICEF and WHO, the availability of basic drinking water facilities is limited to only 69 percent of schools in India. The provision of safe and adequate drinking water facilities in elementary schools is mandatory under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

A cooler or a simple filter costs only 10k INR, which is not a financial problem for the school administration, the school provides all the good facilities to all the staff and teachers, said a student.

However school administration said matter will be resolved soon.
