Govt focusing on niche tourism to attract more tourists: Secy Tourism

Srinagar, Sep 02 (KNO): The government is laying special focus on niche tourism in Jammu and Kashmir to attract more tourists.

Secretary, J&K Tourism department Sarmad Hafeez told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that in order to promote niche tourism in J&K, some niche tourism products are being focused so as to attract more and more tourists towards J&K.

Niche tourism refers to how a specific tourism product can be tailored to meet the needs of a particular audience and market segment. Locations with specific niche products are able to establish and position themselves as niche tourism destinations

Sarmad said that a festival is also being organised in which all stakeholders are participating besides national and international tourists and experts are also participating.

He said that the handling festival is also being organised and travel marts along with the publicity campaign is also going on in different states of India to lure more tourists to J&K.

“We are going to participate in such a travel trade fair in Ahmedabad along with local travel trade so that to attract more youth to J&K,” Sarmad said.

He also said that the government is planning to conduct a series of activities and events in order to attract more and more tourists in winters to boost the economy.

According to Sarmad, efforts are on and all possible steps are being taken to attract more and more tourists to J&K—(KNO)
