Srinagar, Aug 22: In Jammu and Kashmir, the expenditure under civil works during the previous fiscal in School Education Department has been very slow with below 50 percent.
According to the official documents available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Ministry of Education (MoE) has said that “A large number of civil works are either pending, under progress or not started.”
“The expenditure under civil works during 2021-22 was very slow below 50 percent,” it reads.
Meanwhile, the MoE has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to complete all the pending civil works at the earliest.
“The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir shall update the progress on Prabandh Portal,” MoE said.
Apart from pending civil works, it also said that the department has issued guidelines to the states and Union Territories (UT) and requested them to participate in the Vidyanjali program by boarding their schools on the portal.
Vidyanjali—a school volunteer programme aims to facilitate the community and volunteers to directly connect with the government and government-aided schools to contribute their services or assets, materials and equipment through a dedicated portal.
“In addition, the States and UTs are required to also identify the local volunteers, civil society organizations working in the field and encourage them to contribute to the schools through the portal so that the demand raised by schools could be met, leading to overall improvement in the quality of school education,” MoE said—(KNO)
