Tangtheri villagers suffer in absence of basic facilities

Bandipora, Mar 22: The villagers from Tangtheri village, located on the foothills of famous Harmukh peak in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district continue to suffer in absence of basic facilities like road connectivity, electricity and potable water supply.

Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the locals said that the government has failed to address the problems of common masses in this remote village as they have been a victim of official apathy.

The locals built a wooden bridge here decades ago, which is no longer walkable now. “We have repeatedly appealed to the government to build a new bridge but nothing has been done in this regard so far,” they added.

The situation is worse when it comes to the electricity of the village, they said.

“People are facing a drinking water crisis here and the district administration seems reluctant to look into our miseries,” they said, adding that there are no health care facilities in their village.

"We don’t have road connectivity and the irony is that we have to traverse through thick forests to reach the village either by foot or on horses,” Abdul Rasheed, a local said.

They appealed the administration to look into the matter and ensure that the basic facilities are at least provided to the people here so that they could heave a sigh of relief—(KNO)
