Dr Asgar Samoon felicitates Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali, meritorious students at GGHS Bandipora

Bandipora, March 05: Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora on Saturday organised a grand function to felicitate the son of the Soil Padma Shri Awardee Faisal Ali Dar and other meritorious students of recently declared Board Exams.

Principal Secretary Skill Development Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon attended the function and felicitated Faisal Ali and first 10 position holders of Class 1oth and Class 12th.

He was accompanied by District Development commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad.

The other dignitaries who attended the felicitation ceremony include Joint Director planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Tehsildar Bandipora, Dy Chief Education officer Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad and Zonal education officer Bandipora Mohammad Syed shah.

Dr. Samoon was all praise for the efforts taken by the school and complemented the principal and the staff for being one of the best schools in the district.

He also congratulated and distributed awards to the meritorious students.

In his speech he encouraged the students to work hard and focus on skill oriented courses. Furthermore, he talked about many dimensions of employment and said that around 10 to 12 lac skilled labours from different parts of the country come to earn their livelihood in Jammu and Kashmir from traditional skills. All this could be an eye opener for the students and they should be counseled and motivated for opting skill oriented courses besides academics.

He stressed on correlating education with skills and employability. He also advised the principal of the school to ensure exposure tours for students to different technical institutions so as to make them familiarize with technology.

Later, Padmashree awardee Faisal Ali Dar on behalf of school was felicitated by Dr Samoon along with Dr Owais Ahmad and principal of the school. His felicitation in the school on this occasion was to celebrate his achievement for being the first person to receive the Padma Shri Award in sports from Bandipora,Jammu and Kashmir.

Faisal Ali also distributed mementos to 6 students as a token of love and encouragement. He also announced lifetime membership to the felicitated students in Ali's Sports Academy.

Principal of the school Mohammad Rafiq Parrey presented vote of thanks and extended his warm wishes to the students and thanked his staff for full cooperation.
