Broiler farm established in Gurez under IPDP successfully sales out first hatch

Bandipora, December 30: First time in history, Broiler Farm established at Dawar Gurez under Integrated Poultry Development Program (IPDP) successfully completes its first cycle.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora, Dr Gh Ahmad Lone said under the scheme, the department assists the youth to establish new commercial broiler farm besides providing Insurance of broiler poultry birds and Market intervention by establishing Mobile Poultry Processing cum Dressing unit and transportation of live poultry birds, establishment of poultry rendering unit, Machinery/Equipments for Poultry Farms and Mini Incubators for backyard poultry.

Lone said the Block Veterinary Officer (BVO) Gurez, Dr Izhar facilitated the beneficiary in the sale of produce amid snow and extreme weather conditions as per the guidelines.

The beneficiary expressed gratitude to District Administration Bandipora and Department of Animal Husbandry for the introduction of employment generating schemes like IPDP, making their dream of broiler farming in Gurez a reality.

He said with the success of the poultry unit they are planning to develop more Poultry and dairy farms as one of the biggest employers for the people of Gurez valley. He said this model Broiler farm has paved the way for many others in Block Gurez to follow this path and as such seven more broiler farms are expected to be set up soon.
