The residents of Panar, Ahamshareef Bandipora are up in arms against the Roads and Buildings department for failing to repair the Bandipora-Panar road subjecting the residents of a dozen villages to extreme hardships due to the dilapidated road condition.

Locals say that the 3-kilometers stretch of road from Ayathmulla to Panar is in worst condition and dotted with potholes giving trouble to the travellers. The road also leads to the famous Shrine and tourist resort Authwatto.

They said that the distance that can be covered in ten minutes is covered in more than an hour owing to the bad condition of the road stretch.

Mohammad Abdullah a resident of Panar said they are suffering due to the "indifferent attitude of the local administration towards the village and they are least bothered about their health and hygiene as bumpy roads have become dangerous".

"We are facing serious problems for the past five years due to the dilapidated condition of vital road stretch from Ayathmulla to Panar which is also the lone route for famous Ahamshareef shrine," Abdullah said.

Ghulam Nabi Bajad a local from one of the villages said, "the condition of the road is in deplorable condition and it is painful for us and patients"

“The road was macadamized before few years but last year a drain was constructed, it damaged the whole stretch of road. Since then, nobody is paying any attention towards it and the road is in shambles,” the locals said.

Locals urged authorities to look into the matter and macadamize the road at the earliest. They urged Lieutenant Governor and Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter on a priority basis.
