Ahsan Memorial Foundation celebrates Youm-e-Ahsan in Hajin

Bandipora, September 09: Ahsan Memorial Foundation Wednesday organized a day long literary event Youm-e-Ahsan at its head office Ahsan Manzil Hajin to remember the noted scholar, founding member of Adbi Markaz Kamraz and a staunch champion of linguistic movement Muhammad Ahsan Ahsan.

          The function was attended by a galaxy of literatures, poets, scholars , academicians and officers of district administration Bandipora.  

Scholars, poets, academicians, his former colleagues and journalists  remembered Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan as the architect of Adbi Markaz Kamraz J&K and a staunch champion of the linguistic movement.

 Raised under the influence of renowned scholar Prof Mohi-ud-Din Hajni, Ahsan came into prominence when he became editor in Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages. Speakers said  Ahsan was a finest and inspiring teacher who not only contributed to education but added many poetic pearls to the Kashmiri literature during his career. “He was a good poet, scholar and literary activist who over the decades mentored the careers of numerous poets, writers and activists,” they said.

Late Ahsan emerged as secretary finance of state’s largest literary organization AMK and held the position with a firm grip until the end of his literary life. Muhammad Ahsan played a pivotal part in the popularising the linguistic movement initiated by AMK for the protection and upliftment of Kashmiri Language and Culture.

Inclusion of Kashmiri language in schools and colleges is the collective efforts of the linguistic activists of which the Ahsan was a prime voice. Muhammad Ahsan, as a senior council member utilized his expertise to develop the organizational setup and used to take great pride in leading his fellow activists.  His former colleagues while recalling the personality of Ahsan said he used to respect them, help them build up their reputations, forgive them for their faults and shortcomings, and stand behind them through thick and thin.

“Ahsan worked with AMK from the beginning and vociferously advocated the protection of Kashmiri language and culture. He was the strength of AMK and his unflinching commitment to the cause of Kashmiri language is something that will not only be missed but will also be cherished,” speakers said.

          Earlier the function started with recitation of holy Quran by mufti Sadaqat followed by Naat-e-Rasool (SAW) by Towseef Rashid. Ab Ahad Hajini, noted writer and president of Ahsan Memorial Foundation, presented a welcome address.

In his welcome address the president of the foundation provided a detailed report of the activities being carried out by the organization and apprised the audiences about the future endeavors of the foundation.

The function was held in three sessions, inaugural session was presided over by noted writer and scholar of Kashmiri language and literature Prof. Shad Ramzan while as prominent writer and scholars of Kashmiri language and literature prof Majrooh Rashid and Dr. Rafiq Masoodi were present in the presidium as guests of honor.

Renowned scholar and educationist Malik Hassan former Director Academics JK Board of School Education presented a keynote address wherein he highlighted the literary contribution and literary merit of late Ahsan. Scholars and writers in the presidium highlighted the literary merit of late Ahsan and also emphasized about the need of organizing such events and remembering our great literatures.

Other Speakers on the occasion not only congratulated the organizers of this huge event but expressed their joy to be part of such a wonderful function. They also remembered the contribution of the late poet and paid him great tribute.

The second and important session of the event was presided over by principal Govt. Degree college Hajin Prof. Huda Galzai wherein the guests released the annual journal of the foundation Shahej Boune and compilation of essays by late Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan in the form book titled Ahsanun Aasun edited by Ab AhadHajini. Detailed paper on both the publications was presented by Dr Gh Nabi Haleem, Dr Shafqat Altaf, Dr Sheikh Ajaiz, Mohammad Yaqoob Shah and Haji Mushtaq Ahmad.

          At the concluding ceremony, a poetic session- Mehfil-e-Mushaira was also held in which noted and prominent poets of the valley paid poetic tribute to the late Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan.

Poets who participated in the Mushaira include: Abdul Khaliq shams, Tanha Nizami, Sufi Showkat, Nisarul Kareem, Said ud din Saidi, Reyaz Parrwana,

The function was attended by large number of writers, scholars, media persons including Prof. Farooq Fayaz, Jeelani Kamran, Prof. Imtiyaz Ahmad, Prof. Khurshid Ahmad , Prof. Falak Fayroz, Inayatullah Hajini, Shahbaz Hakbari, AG baigh athar, Rashid Roshan,  Qawamud din Shilvati,  Said Ud Din saidi, Mohammad Yousuf Mashoor, Anayat Gul , Prof. G M Khan, Sufi Showkat, Dr. Reyaz Ul Hassan, Mohammad Shafi Bhat,  , Mir Tariq , Yousuf Sameem, Akhtar Mansoor, G M Teli, Hameed ullahHajam, Dr. Jeelani, Inayat Gul and other distinguished writers , scholars and intellectuals of the valley.

Pertinent to mention here that all speakers of the event congratulated the organizers and  emphasized upon the office bearers of Ahsan Foundation to work for highlighting the contribution of Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan in different fields of literature and the linguistic movement besides moving forward his mission and legacy. 

Dr.Aadil Mohi UD Din, General Secretary of the foundation carried out the proceedings of all sessions of the event while Mr. Nazir Javid, Vice president of the Foundation presented vote of thanks.
