2-day Soft Tennis Championship concludes at Jammu
Event witnesses enthusiastic participation of budding players
Jammu, August 27: The District Soft Tennis Championship, organized by Jammu District Soft Tennis Association under the aegis of J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and Amateur Soft Tennis Federation of India concluded here with award distribution among the winners of the tournament.
Similar tournaments were held in other districts of Jammu division and Srinagar division with a good participation of enthusiastic sports players.
Under Senior Girls category, Sidhani Singh clinched gold medal by securing first position while Ojaswani and Shabnam got the silver and bronze medal respectively.
Under Senior Boys category, Chirag won the gold medal while Samnyu Cyrish and Danish Bandral bagged silver and bronze medal respectively.
Under Junior Girls, Antekshika clinched gold medal while silver and gold medal were bagged by Anita and Varidhi respectively.
Under Junior Boys category, Arnav Vaid bagged the gold medal while Soham Bhat got the silver and Shulin Koul and Parvinder shared the bronze medal.
Under Sub Junior Girls, Shrimai Bhat got the gold medal while Alya and Vanshika secured the second and third position respectively.
Under Sub Junior Boys category, Hardeep Singh bagged first position while Madhvendra Singh won silver and Agram and Savya shared the bronze medal.
Mohita Sharma, SP North, who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed prizes among the winners and runner ups of the tournament.
While interacting with the players, she appreciated their talent and encouraged them to work hard and strive strongly for achieving excellence in their game which has the potential to earn them name and fame at the national and international level. “Discipline, Devotion and Commitment are the hallmark of a true sportsperson which can take them towards the highest echelons of sports world”, she maintained.
Divisional Sports Officer, Ashok Singh, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, motivated the participating players towards further adding to their sports skills saying that the Sports Council is determined to promote sports culture in the division.
General Secretary J&K Amateur Soft Tennis Association, Dr. Ghulam Hassan, elaborated on the objective of organizing these district level events saying that these are aimed at to promote Soft Tennis in the rural parts of the UT by providing the budding sportspersons a perfect platform. He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that these events are getting tremendous response from all areas. “Soft Tennis game has witnessed a notable progress and promotion in the past few years in the state due to the efforts of the Association and support from the State Sports Council and other stakeholders”, he added.
Pertinently, these budding players are being trained at K C Sports club by internationally reputed coach, Indu Bhushan Padha.

Among others present were Officials of Sports Council, representatives of Amateur Soft Tennis Association including Indu Bhaushan Padha and Sarfraz besides parents.
