Bandipora, Aug 10: The authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday removed the heaps of garbage dumped at Old Bus stand (Now auto stand) in North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
The development comes a day after Kashmir Convener carried a detailed story on the heaps of garbage dumped at the Auto stand in main market Bandipora. Following the news report, the concerned authorities swung into action and removed the garbage dumped in the auto stand and making the site clean yet again.
An official said that the garbage at the site was removed following the direction of district administration, while the concerned officers deployed JCB's and garbage trucks of Municipal council to remove the waste from the location.
Firdous Ahmad a local auto driver said that they are very happy with the good steps taken by the administration and hoped the auto stand is not turned unto a dumping site again. Drivers said they and the passengers remain in constant fear of outbreak of an epidemic owing to garbage at the public place. “There is no garbage on the site right now. Some days ago, it was difficult for a person to walk past this site as it was dirt and stench everywhere,” he said.
Meanwhile, locals thanked and appreciated the efforts of Kashmir Convener for highlighting the issues and prompted the concerned authorities to take necessary steps for removal of garbage from the area.
