Army celebrates historic 1971 war victory in Bandipora, hosts Swarnim Vijay run

Bandipora 23 June : Army on Wednesday celebrated golden jubilee year of historic victory of 1971 War in Bandipora and hosted Swarnim Vijay run.

According to Kashmir News Service Serving members of India's Armed Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central reserve Police force, Students of Army goodwill school, Ex-servicemen of army, local sarpanchs and panchs took part in 'Swarnim Vijay Run', an event held by the 14 RR Army Headquarters Sonarwani.

Run was held as a part of the year-long celebration of  the 50th anniversary year of victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Speaking on the occasion Commanding officer 14 RR P S Joshi said that  the recognition for war heroes was a great feeling, adding that the blessings of the seniors were with the younger generations to bring more laurels to the country and its Armed Forces. 

Speaking on occasion District Devlopment Commissioner Bandipora Dr Ovais Ahmad said that the run was held as a part of the year-long celebration of 50th anniversary year of victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war.The historic military victory is being celebrated with much fanfare all across the country as 'Swarnim Vijay Varsh' (Golden Jubilee Year of Victory) and today the 'Flame of Glory' or 'Swarnim Vijay Mashal' reaches safapora today where from it was carried to Bandipora.

Iqbal, who retired as a Soldier in army recalled his 1971 experience of how heroic acts and efforts of army officers made their best part in war.(KNS)
