Cultural Academy symbol of cultural, linguistic unity of J&K: President, Halqae Adab Sonawari

Appeals Lt Governor to appoint full-time secretary for the academy

Hajin, 1 April: An important programme of Halq-e-Adab Sonawari was held at Hajin today whereby the important issue of paucity of financial aid in the Halq-e-Adab was discussed.

In the beginning of the programme, the President of the Halq-e-Adab Sonawari made an impassioned appeal to the Lieutenant Governor for appointment of a full-time Secretary for the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.

In his speech, he emphasized that the Academy,owing to its manpower and infrastructure, is the largest academy in the country.Moreover, he underscored the fact that the Academy is the sole institution of its kind in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for the preservation of all, literature and culture, whereas other states/UTs in the country have separateinstitutions for such purposes.

While delineating the role of the Cultural Academy as a symbol of linguistic and cultural unity, the President expressed that the linguistically and culturally diverse Jammu & Kashmir is known as “Chhota Bharat” (Mini India) in literary circles.He further appreciated the exemplary role of the Academyin uniting people of all languages and cultures in this part of the.

                  The President stressed that the appointment Secretary for the Academy on a whole-time basis shall prove significant for the accomplishment of the several tasks that have accumulated over a period of time and subsequently remained undisposed. He highlighted the utmost need of grant-in aid for various literary and cultural organizations, besides financial assistance for artists living in indigenous circumstances and grants to writers for publication of books, etc. Moreover, he said that the publication of books has come to a grinding halt due to the scantiness of the monetary aid. The President reiterated that the monetary assistance provided to the literary organizations acts as a catalyst for the inculcation of literary adroitness among the promising writers in general and the youth in particular who, by means of their utilitarian methods of work and creative imagination,employ their precious art and time for the sake of the common good.

     

In the end, the President Expressed his deepest gratitude to those magnanimous men of letters who, by means of timely financial assistance to Halq-e-AdabSonawari,expressed their undeterred love and passion for the Kashmiri language and literature.
