J&K Students Association delegation Calls on DGP Uttarakhand, Discuss Issues Of JK Students

Srinagar, April 01: J&K Students Association delegation led by National Spokesperson Nasir Khuehami here on today held meeting with Director- General of Police Uttrakhand Ashok Kumar in Dehradun and apprised him about various issues of Kashmiri Students in the State.

In a statement  issued here today, spokesperson said in the Meeting, Nasir Khuehami shared various issues faced by the students in the State with Ashok Kumar. 

Khuehami further appealed Kumar to stay vigilant and keep in touch with both Kashmiri students and the heads of the institutions where they are studying. He informed him to hold regular interaction programs with Students of J&K to create a sense of security among them that they are safe in Uttarakhand, so students and parents can immediately contact them whenever they feel insecure and to make them feel easy and secure.

 

Khuehami also informed him about the impacts of the negative portrayal of J&K state by a section of media. He said the negative primary victims of the negative portrayal have been the students studying in various states of the country. He appealed the DGP to assist in removing this stereotype created among the masses about the state. He urged him the frequent exchange programs of students will help the people of the state to know each other.  

Responding to the requests of Khuehami on the Occasion, Kumar gave patient hearing to their problems & assured that, all possible steps are being taken to ensure their safety and security. He said that he is committed to ensure the students that they will be providing them the best of the support in every regard. Kumar assured of taking all possible steps to ensure the students' safety and said that he had been closely monitoring the situation. He assured delegation that there is be no threat to them here.

Kumar said, he is committed to ensure the students that they will be providing them the best of the support in every regard. He informed him that, a 24×7 Special grievance redressal helpline was already launched for them, through which students can contact the police for an early disposal of cases. Ashok assured that he will personally meet the students so that they feel police is acting as the guardian and the care-taker of the Kashmiri students besides assuring their safety and security.

 

Ashok Kumar, informed Khuehami that SP Law and Order Shweta Choubey has been designated as new nodal officer for managing the response and redressal of complaints of students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir who are studying in the state.He said that, it will give a sense of security and comfort to them. He said that, in case, there is any apprehension or any misconduct towards them, they should contact Special Nodal Officer Shweta Choubey for addressing such issues and we will hold interaction program's with Kashmiri Students here after. 

He assured of taking all possible steps to ensure the students' safety and said that he had been closely monitoring the situation.He said the students should not feel that they are away from the home as they are equal citizens of the nation and are a part of our family. He informed that, if any student or resident of Jammu and Kashmir in Uttarakhand can contact the newly appointed nodal officer Shweta choubey on Mobile number 94111 12342 or can reach out on email shwetachoubeyips@gmail.com. The number and email will manned round the clock. Complaint can be directly registered if any J&K student or resident is threatened harassed in the State, he added Further. The delegation thanked the DGP Ashok Kumar for fulfilling all the demands.
